10/25/2019 Amanda, Corwall, NY"Just your presence there with me was so comforting, especially since my husband couldn’t be there at first. You also were there to remind me to stay hydrated, use the bathroom, change position, relax and color a picture, help me not get disappointed if things seemed to start slow...all those things together made the whole experience more peaceful and joyous. You were also able to help us get started with breastfeeding right away, which was super important to us." "My husband and I had no family nearby to come support us or watch our 5 year old for us if I suddenly went into labor. We knew I might have to go to the hospital by myself and that scared me. I hired Danielle so that if I had to go to the hospital and my husband had to stay behind to get our son to school, I would have someone come to be with me at the hospital. Thank goodness, because that’s exactly what happened! I felt secure and calmer having her there with me.
I liked that when I met you, you were very down to earth and you listened to our concerns. You also lived near us and met with us a few times during the last couple months of pregnancy. Anything can happen in labor. I had experienced a miscarriage several years ago. When my son was born (in Nebraska), I had a doula there to help support me. When we moved to NY, I had to find a new doula. My goals were to stay calm and move around. During an intense part of labor, you told me, “let your body open” and minutes later, we welcomed our daughter into the world. Just your presence there with me was so comforting, especially since my husband couldn’t be there at first. You also were there to remind me to stay hydrated, use the bathroom, change position, relax and color a picture, help me not get disappointed if things seemed to start slow...all those things together made the whole experience more peaceful and joyous. You were also able to help us get started with breastfeeding right away, which was super important to us. During a hard part of labor, you told me to “let my body open.” When you said that I realized that my body was tense and consciously relaxed. Moments later, Seersha Kate was born. And you helped me with my breathing-blow out birthday candles- when the Dr told me not to push yet- that was a doozy." -Amanda, Cornwall NY Comments are closed.
